I MET ATOMIC KITTEN! Alison Lawrie tells So at the BBC all about her day at the recent Atomic Kitten webcast. I bet you wish you had entered the competition on The Raft to come to London to meet them now don't you!!!! ...................................................................................
""I'm always entering competitions to meet my fave celebs, so I'd completely forgotten I'd entered a comp to meet Atomic Kitten at a live webcast until the BBC phoned me to say I'd won. When I heard the words, 'You're the winner', I just completely burst into tears! I was crying so much I had to hang up and call them back when I'd calmed down. It was such a brilliant surprise! I was allowed to take a friend, but it was too difficult to choose just one friend to take with me, so I decided to give my little sister Vicky a treat instead.
I usually sleep late during the holidays, but the day I met Atomic Kitten I woke up really early. The train from Warrington took aaaages! I was getting a bit panicky when the conductor announced the train would be delayed by first 10 minutes, then 20 minutes, but we got to London in plenty of time. We jumped straight into the 'So' car and were whisked off to the HQ of the record company - that's when it finally sank in: I was going to meet Atomic Kitten!!
When we arrived we had to sign in with security before making our way to the webcast studio. The record company HQ are set back from the road behind high walls topped with barbed wire, but once you get inside they're really posh! They even have a canal running through them, and we had to cross a little footbridge to reach the studio. I couldn't believe I was actually there!
""Inside the studio there was a table covered with loads of free drinks, sweets and crisps. We each took a handful before bagging the best seats. We were right near the front, and I could tell Jenny and Liz (Tash wasn't there 'cause her baby was due!) would be really close to me when they came in. Gradually the studio started filling up with people - it was really hectic with cameramen and important-looking people running around all over the place. Then suddenly I realised that Jenny and Liz were standing in front of me!
They were so cool and normal! They breezed in, shouted 'hi' to everyone and sat down on the sofas where they were going to be interviewed. Liz was even tucking into a bowl of soup 'cause she hadn't eaten all day! After a few minutes we were warned to turn our mobile phones off because the recording was going to begin.
During the interview Jenny and Liz were so laid back and funny - they messed about, munched on sweets and told jokes like they were just chatting with their friends. At the end the audience could ask questions, but I was just too nervous - I didn't want to start crying again!
Afterwards we lined up to meet Jenny and Liz in person. I couldn't believe I was going to meet them properly! 'Hi babe!' said Jenny when she saw me. She and Liz signed a photo for me, and then I got Vicky over so we could have our photo taken together. I thought they'd be really celeby and scary, but they weren't at all. I like them more than ever now, and every time I hear The Tide is High I'll think, 'I met them!'
