KT Tunstall Wows Shepherds Bush Empire

KT Tunstall at Sheps Bush

KT Tunstall must have had the best 18 months of anyone singer songwriter going. A slow burn success that all the marketing executives will tell you is the best way of selling records. It essentially equates to ‘word of mouth’ selling – the best way!

She was thrilled to play The shepherds Bush Empire last Wednesday and whilst I don’t particularly like my artists feeling happy with us for turning up (surely its them that are doing ‘us’ the favour) I just had to forgive her as she was absolutely stunning.

She played through most of her album mixing in trumpets and cello (all played by the same 4 piece backing band). She even started up with a loop of her making something up about playing The Empire. It was a great start and totally infectious, from chord 1 to the finish.

Other Side of the World, already sounds like an old classic – surely must have heard it before somewhere, but seemingly not.

For her final encore she played a new track, just her and the guitar and it was heart achingly beautiful. KT has an incredible voice and she injected more emotion into that one song than I thought was possible. The crowd soaked it all up and everyone left saying ‘She is a star’ and ‘She is going to be massive’…well the news is…’Hello, she already is, she’s gone platinum in the UK’. And what a place to be … its only now that people are beginning to take notice and yet she has already made 300,000 fans.

Eye to the Telescope, is currently sitting around number 10 in the charts… make sure you go and get it!
