50 Cent and Samuel L Jackson Fight For Iraq Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson and Samuel L. Jackson will soon have more in common than just a last name, as they're both up for roles in "Home of the Brave," a wartime drama set against the backdrop of the war in Iraq. Written by first-time, screenwriter Mark Friedman and directed by "Life as a House" helmer Irwin Winkler, the flick will follow three soldiers who return home from the conflict and find the readjustment difficult. Samuel L. Jackson has been cast as a middle-age doctor who is surprised to discover that his tour of duty at home is even more daunting than the one he just finished in the Middle East.
50 Cent, who recently made his acting debut in the semi-autobiographical drama "Get Rich or Die Tryin' "is in final negotiations to make "Brave" his first true attempt at playing a fully fictionalized character. The 30-year-old hip-hop superstar would be joining a rare attempt by Hollywood to address the war in Iraq, one that Winkler admits was a difficult sell.
Jay-Z and Nas Take On The World Simply put, Nas and Jay-Z together are a "threat." That's how the Queensbridge rhyme savant explains some of his peers' criticism of his signing to the Jay-Z-led Def Jam label. Since the deal was announced, MCs such as Fat Joe, Cam'ron and 50 Cent have publicly questioned how Nas could sign with a onetime foe who had an affair with the mother of his daughter and talked about it on wax.
"That would be small-minded," Nas said recently while sitting next to Jay. "That's what I want people to understand. Me coming over to Def Jam, I'm bringing something to the table. I'm equivalent to any of the artists that are there. I'm ready to go I'm ready to kick ass.
"We're thinking bigger than what was said on the record," Jay added. "We're thinking bigger than what people perceive this as. We're thinking as responsible, grown men. I know that's not popular, especially in the state of hip-hop right now, but that's what it is. We've been chosen as leaders. We have to lead. We can't follow people's perception of what this union is. I didn't sign Nas, I partnered with Nas. You can't sign an artist of Nas' stature, you can only partner with him."

Beyonce Hates Bootylicious Beyonce Knowles has admitted she is embarrassed about popularising the word "bootylicious". The Destiny's Child pop rocket turned solo star used the word in the single of the same name in 2001, which went on to be a global smash. However, Beyonce has now admitted she finds it uncomfortable that bootylicious can now be found in the dictionary, following its use in the Destiny's track. The word bootylicious is understood to have first been used on record in a 1992 Snoop Dogg track, entitled "F*ck Wit Dre".
She explained: "I'm not very proud of that. It's in the dictionary - it's crazy. I wrote the song, but I wish there was another word I could have come up with if I was going to have a word in the dictionary.""
Jay-Dee Rest In Peace Last week hip-hop tragically lost another one of its greatest talents with the passing of J Dilla, a highly respected producer known for injecting soul into his music and for crafting some of hip-hop's greatest songs. Also known as Jay Dee (born James Dewitt Yancey), the Detroit native passed away after a battle with Lupus.
Besides creating signature soundscapes for artists like A Tribe Called Quest, Busta Rhymes, Common, and his own group Slum Village. Dilla was also a rapper. He has amassed legions of dedicated fans including platinum-selling beatmakers The Neptunes' Pharrell Williams and Kanye West, with whom he worked with on Common's Grammy-nominated album Be.
"Some days I felt like I wasn't even in the same league with the guy," 9th Wonder, Little Brother's producer who has also worked with Jay-Z and Destiny's Child, told SOHH. "His work ethic, persistence and genius work says it all. I felt like he, along with Pete Rock and DJ Premier, was looking over my shoulder every record I listened to, and every beat I made... Funny thing is, although we were and will always be connected somehow, I never even had the pleasure to meet or talk to him."
Kanye West Rocks Out With Coldplay For New Song Kanye West recorded a track with Coldplay front man Chris Martin earlier this week. The two recorded the cut at London's Abbey Road Studios. 'Ye was on location recording the theme song to Mission Impossible 3 while Martin and his band, natives of London, were on hand to perform for Radio 2. Word is the two critically-acclaimed artists set up a jam session after West went to watch the band's show. The pair produced a song that may end up on Ye's third album, Graduation.
Kanye didn't mind being interrupted and after Coldplay's show, Chris joined him in the recording booth for a jamming session," an industry insider told Virgin's Newswire. "They did a track together which sounded amazing. Fingers crossed it will see the light of day." West and Coldplay are both slated to perform at the Brit Awards at Earl's Court tonight. This doesn't mark Kanye's first rock collaboration. The Chicagoan remixed Maroon 5's "This Love" back in 2004 and Adam Levine, the band's front man, appears on Late Registration's "Heard Em Say." West has also teamed up with John Mayer for Common's "Go" and "Bittersweet," a song set to appear on Graduation.
