Fortress Europe
Globalisation means the free flow of money without restriction ,without borders,without regulation.According to our leaders this is desireable.However the same rules do not apply to people.In fact the opposite applies.When the consequences of the free flow of money(Cuts in basic services,crooked privatisations,poverty wages,violent political instability) leads to the need for people to move out of their country to another the walls go up-high.And they're getting higher.Imagine twenty years from now ;ever-worsening conditions force more and more people to leave their war-torn countries for the richer climes of Western Europe.Only this time they must face hi-tech weaponry and border defense systems the likes of which we can only imagine.But they will not let that stop them,because they have a right to the safe european homes built on the spoils of economic war.They will keep banging on the walls of Fortress Europe.Thanks to Francois Bergerand and his inspirational film on this subject.
Blowback
"Blowback",alongside being a smoker's term (in the u.k. anyway)is also used by the C.I.A. to describe the "unintended consequences of secret operations"ie.the negative fallout from the blind persual of short-term interests by the American Secret State."Blowback"is the spectre that has haunted the world for over 50 years,and now,post-September 11th,we live through the biggest Blowback of all.
Enemy of the Enemy
The same theme as "Blowback" but from a more subjective viewpoint.Who is the enemy exactly?The same enemy that was a friend that bought the arms from us?The enemy must be armed and sold as a friend;until of course he's the enemy again.Russia is a friend,saudi Arabia is a friend but both are friends of the enemy,yet they are still friends.However,anyone with a brown skin,especially with a turban,are potential enemies.Don't let them on planes.
