Tank Fill Us In On The World of R & B!

First of all, tell us a bit about your background?
I was born in Milwaukee and then I was raised in Maryland, DC. I started singing at the age of five playing the piano and the drums, but I was also inspired by my cousin because I grew up watching him playing instruments. From there once I'd finished high school I found that I really had something with singing you know, so I pursued it aswell as playing football and basketball. Music always found its way into my life again, like I started producing for a while and then I guess I got my break.

Your debut album 'Force of Nature' went straight in at the top of the US R&B Billboard chart, did you expect that or was it a surprise?
Yeah it was a surprise; in fact I think it was more of a surprise for everyone else, as well as myself. We didn't necessarily think it was going to be that big. We thought it was gonna do good but not that good!

Your first single was 'Freaky', why wasn't that on the album?
We put it out, as a promotional single to see how it would do to see how people would react to that.

What is 'Maybe I Deserve It' all about then?
I think its kind of about relationships, what you put out will come back to you, what goes around comes around. It's one of those songs that talks about exactly that, and its just what I wrote.

So what promotional work have you been doing since you've been in England?
Interviews more interviews and photoshoots and stuff like that, just everything to promote the single.

Can you describe your musical style in no more than five words?
Five words? Aggressive, sexy, deep, complete and honest.

Who would you say are your musical influences?
There are a lot of them Kim Berelle, Babyface, Teddy Riley, Marvin Gaye and Donny Hathaway

Who would you say are your heroes musically?
Musically I would definitely have to say my cousin.

Which other artists would you say stand out in the industry now?
I like Ja Rule, Ludacris a lot of hip-hop acts, Mystikal and people like that.

And that can't be a bad thing...
