Remixing Classics with Nicolas Of Air
What inspired the making of 'Everybody Hertz'? When did the idea come about?
Nicolas: It's just a collection of singles that we asked to be remixes and finally we didn't release the singles so we put the mixes on an album. It's just a gift for the fans and a way for people to know our musical tastes.
How did the structure come about? I.e. there are a lot of versions of 'Don't Be Light' - was this intentional?
Nicolas: Everyone chose their own song, so I guess they all liked this one.
How did it all work?
Nicolas: Just the circumstances because more and more we had remixes and we didn't know what to do with them so we put them on an album.
Which is your favourite remix of 'Don't Be Light'?
Nicolas: The Mr Oizo mix because he is one of my favourite musicians - I like his albums, I like his songs and I like his remixes and I though more people would know him after that.
Were there any remixes that didn't make it to the album?
Nicolas : No, it's fine.
Were there any that didn't come off at all?
Nicolas: No, no. Everybody was okay.
Anybody you'd have liked to be on there?
Nicolas : No we pretty much had in mind two or three guys for each song and they all answered yes, so it was cool.
presence of the album affected the way that you think about '10,000Hz Legend'? Nicolas: I don't make a comparison between both. For me my mind is now is turning to new music that we will be doing in the future.
What about live? Have the remixes given you any good ideas on how to represent the songs differently live?
Nicolas : No, because live and studio for us are two different concepts. They don't interfere with each other.
Why didn't 'The Way You Look Tonight' make the '10,000Hz Legend' album?
Nicolas: Because we didn't find a place for it on the album but now we regret not having it on the album. So that's why we put it here.
